My Life in Five Years

I usually plan about my future by making lists that I have to do. I have a lot of plans in my head but there are so many that I can’t complete all that. The followings are the brief things I really want to do in five years. First, what I would like to to abroad for studying English. I major in English Literature but I can’t assure that I am a good speaker. Actually, I got a working visa to Canada already, so I will go to Canada maybe next year. I would like to make many friends, improve speaking skills and get a good job. Next, I would like to make a boy friend. I have never had a boy friend in my life, so I really hope to make a boy friend. It can’t be realized even if I try, so I just wish and pray to make a good boy friend. Thurd, I would like to be a public servant who works at Incheon International Airport so I have to prepare for the examination which held every year. It is really famous because so many people apply for this exam. Nowadays, in Korean society, many young people can’t get a job, but being a public servant provides security that we won’t be fired until we retire. That’s the reason why I want to be a public servant. I would like to become financially independent from my parents. That means I hope to get a job in five years as soon as possible.

Lookism

An example of an interesting social issue affecting the entire world is Lookism, which is a new word. Some of the most important social issues affecting Korea these days are swine flu, Internet moral problems like flaming, and lookism. I think swine flu more directly affects me than any other issue in Korea because it is directly related with our health. However, I think lookism is more important issue than other issues because the flu will pass but lookism will not. In the media, we can always watch beautiful models and celebrities. It excites us but in reality, we are not celebrities! Lookism is related to a lot of other social issues such as plastic surgery, anorexia, diet, and appearance discrimination. But, some groups in Korea have a different view from me. They think appearance i necessary for competitiveness to live and work. A few days ago, there was a big issue on a talk show panel in Misuda. A woman said that a man who is under 180cm tall is a ‘Loser’. It was of course a tongueslip but I was ashamed because I felt that she was a typical example of a Korean woman nowadays. I think this issue causes other discrimination like racism and sexism. I am interested in this social issue because this issue is related to our lives. Korean women are worried about their appearance and try to be prettier than others in order to get a better chance at a good job.

An Interview about My Classmate, Seo Ji-ho

Seo Ji-ho is an interesting student. He will buy a studio apartment and work in leasing service if he wins a lottery. He will also buy a new car and with that, he will tour with his future girlfriend. He said he would go to the Mt.Geumgang and meet North Korea friends if Korea reunities. He wants to learn from them about North Korean culture. As like everyone has a role model in their lives, he wants to be like Park Ji-sung becuase he is very passionate. It means he wants to be passionated person in every situations like him. In addition, he said, if he get married, he will have three kids because he knows that the only child is lonely. He has wanted to have many siblings becuase he is an only child. In his plan after graduation, He wants to go to a graduate school to study more about Business Administration. Now, he majors in Economics. After that, he will try to enter a big corporation and get a job. Through this interview, I found that his hobby is playing tennis. He really loves to play tennis, and he is even a member of the tennis club, Sang Seung Gi Riu. He told me that Tennis is his vitamin of his life. It was a pretty fresh expression and I like it! I know it’s a little bit funny question, but I just wanted to ask. The question was ‘If your family get a H1N1, what will you do?’ He said, if his family get a H1N1, he will get away from them for a while even if he loves them. And after they are totally recovered, he will return to his home. I think it’s a wise decision.

My favorite English blog is Travel Ideas. Of course, it discribes traveling and has so many pictures about a lot of places all around the world. I love traveling, especially going to the sea. I sometimes enjoy fishing and swimming, so I like this blog and I think it’s really useful for searching where to go. There is information about almost twenty countries and I think it’s different from other blogs because it has many photos. I found this blog just a few weeks ago, so it is a little unfamiliar to me. Kim Hye-min is twenty one years old and majors in North Koreanology. She did a lot of her department activities last year but now dosen’t anymore because it’s too hard for her. She wants to be a professor of North Koreanology but she isn’t sure. She lives in Truth Hall Dormitory in jochiwon now and her hometown is Daegu. She likes blue color because it looks so cool. She has had a boy friend, but she doesn’t have a boy friend now, so she wants to meet someome:)

I Can’t Live Without My Laptop!

Nowadays, computers take up a huge part of our lives. At the same time, my laptop takes up a big part of my life. I don’t want to imagine losing my laptop. My father bought me this laptop when I graduated from high school, so it has almost been three years since I was given it. It’s small and black. It’s only 2 kilogram and it’s HP. It cost almost 1,000,000won at that time. It’s so light that I can carry it anywhere very easily. I use it every day, especially at night after school. I surf the web, buy goods, watch movies, and do assignments with my laptop. For these reasons, I can’t live without my laptop!

My Dream Vacation

I really want to go to Bora Bora Island on my vacation. It’s my dream to go there because I have never been to such a beautiful Island like there. Borabora is one of the most beautiful places in the world located in French Polynesia and there scenery is really fantastic! It is famous for the movies ‘Hurricane’ and ‘TripleX’ which were shot in there and also famous for black pearls. There are a lot of activities that we can do. Borabora Island is called a heaven of marine sports which is snorkeling, scuba diving, wind surfing, water ski, marine jet, lagoon cruise, and feeding sharks. But, the most famous thing in there is the spectacles around the island. The color of the sea is so various depends on time and angle because of the corals. It is worth to see that because it’s so beautiful and awesome. I really want to do some activities in the sea like snorkeling and feeding sharks. The high‐demanded season of Borabora Island is from April to October so I want to go there in summer. I want to go there with my family and I’d like to stay there almost a week because it is enough to do many activities in there. I have dreamed this kind of vacation almost for five years since when I was in high school. I will go there by airplane. The cost for vacation is maybe expensive but I don’t care. The cost I searched for is about 3million won for only 5 days! Even if it is expensive, I will never give up my ‘dream vacation’.

My Major

I major in English Literature. I am taking five classes in my major, ” Media English Translation”,”English Education and Evaluation”,”Introduction to English Education”,”Understanding the Life in The English Speaking World”, and “A Core Course”. I chose to major in English literature becuase it’s my interests and I also really wanted to speak English very fluently. My final goal is to speak English much better than native speakers. I know this is just a dream, but I want to have a dream. I think these classes are a little bit much to handle, but I think I am doing pretty well. Sometimes I can’t enjoy them because there are a lot of assignments and presentations that I have to do, but sometimes I really enjoy my classes because they are interesting. My personal goal is to have a happy family. It’s not a big dream and it’s pretty normal. My major will be helpful for my career goals becuase it will develope my English.
